アメリカでは癌の1年延命にかかる治療薬コストは25万ドル。1995年は54000ドル程度でしたから、驚くほどの増加です。日本もPD1阻害薬など免疫療法の適応範囲が広がるでしょう。また、日本では80代以上の一年延命のコストも2000万円ほどかかります。公的負担を続けられるか疑問です。
肉親に対して「1年間延命で2000万円ですが、どうしますか？」と聞かれる将来が来るのかもしれません。
In 1995, the cost of cancer drugs for an extra year of life was $54,000. Today, it’s about $250,000. Even in Japan, one extra year of life for 80years old or over cost $200,000. We may not keep spending public money. In future, we may be asked for our parents, “which do you like? Stop treatment or 20,000 for a year”.
